OhioLinuxfest 2004 Gearing Up 11
Damin writes "The Ohio LinuxFest is a free event, open to all interested on a first-come, first-serve basis. Aside from the impressive lineup of speakers, what makes this event so cool is that it is organized entirely by volunteers from all of the Ohio LUGS. Last year, people travelled from nine states to participate. The event will be hosted at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, October 2nd, from 10:00AM until 6:00PM. While this is a free event, registration is required. Full details & registration information can be found at the event's website."

We have some excellent speakers coming in this year from Red Hat, Novell (SUSE), the Apache Software Foundation, the Samba Team, and more. We're having an excellent speaker on the Asterisk PBX [asterisk.org] for Linux and VoIP technologies.
Hosted at The Ohio State University [ohiolinux.org] in Columbus, Ohio [experiencecolumbus.com] and with plenty to see and do in the city during the visit, as well! I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of friends this year, and the afterparty should be grand!

Geez, this is just down the street from me. I am grateful that the organizers were able to get some vendors and OSS people to attend; even with the Internet, it's still useful for people in the Linux/OSS community to get together F2F.
If you don't already attend a LUG or computer user group, consider joining one or starting one-- the outreach to your city/town/neighborhood reinforces that OSS is a community effort, even if it's a global community.
