Applixware for LinuxPPC 15

Plutor writes "Applix has ported their office suite to LinuxPPC, and CNN has an article about it. It's always a nice thing to see main-stream press attention-I'd like my next box to be PPC. "

  • it's not applix's problem. try using xfsft and read Rod Smith's page on fonts under X and with Applixware.

    They have working font situation. 300 dpi is not problem to you, I suppose.

    I'd like my NeXT box to be a PPC too, but it just sits there all black and turdly running NeXTStep with its greyscale monitor . . . ah well.

  • Yes, right along with the non-existent support (I'm talking about something as simple as the serial number). I actually had high hopes for StarDivision, but so far I've been totally underwhelmed.
  • Now that ApplixWarePPC is out, many LinuxPPC users can be productive without having to reboot into MacOS. This can only be a good thing. Soon, as more and more Productivity software becomes availible for either/any platform, it'll be harder to spread FUD agaisnt linux being say..."counterproductive" or "unsupported" (if enough applications are supported, then it doesn't matter if the OS is..) or any stupid FUD like "opaque".

    One more point for Linux.

    So, that's rigth? I mean.... exist a version of Applix for Linux? It's the same of Star or M$Office?

    I'm wondering... of the people that regularly contribute to /. which machines would they REALLY want if they had to choose 2 machines??
