I wanted to go away from Microsoft but where do I get those butterfly keyboards and wireless mice with the Linux logo on them?

Could a Linux box be used to look at my receipt as I exit? I'd rather a computer imply I'm a thief rather than some snot-nosed 16-year-old.
    • as i currently read this post from the POS (point of sale? Peice of Shiat?) terminal which currently runs a shoddy winxp-embedded, i can tell you that there are no snot-nosed 16 year olds (at least not in my store.) and we generally do not stop customers exiting the doors to look at receipts unless the door alarm goes off, even if then :P

i will probably comment on alot of these posts seeing as how i have seen the open wed kiosks move from some version of linux that used Netscape/Mozilla over to xp-embedde

  • I'm just knit (nit? gnit? I am stupid.) picking here, I think we can all understand from context what is implied. Plus I couldn't resist 2nd post. I'm a loser. Too bad I really don't have much to add to this. It's interesting just how much detail they give in the press release. I think it is good to see these large retailers adopting linux and other "open source solutions". It's unfortunate though that more and more Linux seems to be played as hype. Which it's not really because of it's incredible power and

Circuit city seems to be trying to redefine itself as more of a computer store then a home theater/stereo store. I like the idea actually, they take the heavy commision television salesmen and push them to selling computers.

Here is where the great idea comes in. Circuit city takes some of that linux knowlege and creates a HTPC based on linux. They take any of the free pvr packages, brand them into their own image, bundle some infrared controllers and you have a top notch home theater in a box. Gateway had a great set top media center but they stopped it, I dont think it was being sold in the right channel. I think Circuit City could pull it off though. They could actually have one of these powering their home theater instead of best buy putting media center computers next to... the other computers.
    • good thinking: you can view their contact page here [circuitcity.com]
i'm pretty sure they'd like that idea
    • I've been told CC stopped working on commision.
And I've heard people alluding to them not being around too much longer.
    • just a side note.. Circuit City stopped giving commission to their salesmen about 2 years ago (roughly, i started about a year ago and we never had it then & have heard stories.)

another side note, i sell car stereos so i resent your first sentence :P~, and beelieve it or not, Wal-Mart was(is?) the countries top large-screen (40"+) distributor/seller
