Submission + - The future of the US Postal Service (usps.com)

OutputLogic writes: There was an interesting presentation on the future of the US Postal Service on C-SPAN. In his remarks, Postmaster General John Potter mentioned that the amount of delivered pieces in the US dropped from 213 to 177 billion in the last three years, and expected to drop to as low as 118 billion by 2020. Most notably, the amount of certified mail (bills, invoices) will drop to 30%, whereas standard mail (ad flyers) will be over 50% of the total delivered mail. Among measures to close a huge deficit are eliminating Saturday mail service and moving some branches to supermarkets.
