It's extremely common on phones in Europe and Asia, though it isn't used much in the U.S. Last week, Symbian announced that the company had made its existing Symbian OS platform open-source and promised that Symbian devices would come to US carriers in 2010. The new OS has a range of improvements from previous iterations.
