The Linux 3.1 Kernel May Have A New Logo 17
An anonymous reader writes "To mark the upcoming release of the Linux 3.1 kernel IBM's Darrick Wong has proposed changing the familiar solo-Tux logo to something more, well, befitting of the version number."

At first I said, "Why is a new logo so important just because they changed versions? Don't they have better things to do with their time?"

On what, the color cyan ? The Helvetica font ? The blobby rendition of Tux ?
If they have any humanity left in them, they will chuckle as we did, and realize 3.2 will probably be released in another two weeks anyway.

April fools is a bit late this year.
I do enjoy how the tongue-in-cheek posting by Derrick Wong has turned into a sensationalist /. headline.
Now comes the fun part -- waiting for other news aggregators to pick up the /. headline and spin it as "New Linux Logo!"

It uses the same pic as early Windows. That is a liability risk even if it was intended to be funny as people can confuse Linux with Windows 3.11.
