Ok so on some fedora rawhide boxes I have updated to 5.12rc1. I have let them sit and running for a day or so without using them. I came back and I didn't see it corrupting the root filesystem of said machines.
Does this imply the corruption only occurs if the existing RAM is full and needs to swap to disk?
