crookedvulture writes "Seagate has completely revamped its lineup of desktop hard drives with a new family of Barracuda models based on 1TB platters. The drives all feature 7,200-RPM spindle speeds, and they'll even replace low-power models that typically spin their platters in the 5,400-RPM range. Capacities as large as 3TB will be available starting in the middle of November, and a 4TB version is coming. Surprisingly, though, Seagate has cut its warranty coverage from the industry standard of three years to just two for the new 'cudas. It wasn't too long ago that Seagate offered five-year warranties on all its desktop hard drives."
