So that's why Rob was logged in from dhcpsomething.redhat.com a few weeks ago.. And here I was thinking that Redhat was going to buy out slashdot. Oh well, I hope nobody pays attention to all the rumours spread on SlashNET then. :)

Perhaps redhat and VA could cooperate on making linux.com a portal site.. Now that would be interesting to see..

  • Just registered for my free CD. I can't wait to get my hands on that one ;-)

  • speaking of LinuxWorld Expo, anyone see the 4x G3 SMP demo. Its expensive as hell, but mabey they can explain how they pulled off that trick.

BTW: here is a site that has 4 G3's on a 64bit PCI card with 2 DIMM slots. Its for NT and MacOS. Hmmm...a B&W G3 with 3 of those card can have 13 processors and 2.5Gb of RAM....but the heat! heh

    Now we're nothing.
  • With the newly announced LDAP support in the db, Oracle has really closed the loop on OS features in a database. Along with Raw Iron, this could turn out to be big in the Oracle vs. OS's (where the OS means OS for sale, like NT.) OS's like Linux should only benefit.
Some 8i-related links: my 8i editorial [ontopofit.com], featured on /. in mid-November '98, still really interesting (if I may say so myself) with some posts from the Oracle team developing it. Also, the company I work for simultaneously announced an Oracle DBA outsourcing practice, with Michael Abbey heading it up (author of Tuning Oracle among other OP books). You can find out about that at The Pythian Group [pythian.com]'s website.
    Best regards, Paul

  • When is Netscape making their directory server
    available on Linux?
  • Think of it as giving other people more options, and giving you more opportunities.

After all, there's nothing saying you can't continue using Linux exactly as you have it on your machine right now.

  • It is amazing how much buz and excitement is being generated by this. I have been using linux at my office in small and hidden places for a little while, but only yesturday did our IS Manager start asking me about it. This is the same woman who said, "nothing will beat my HP's" just 3 months ago. Now she wants to setup some linux boxes to "play around a bit." Isn't it a great time to be alive? :)~

Always draw your curves, then plot your reading.
