Semi Anonymous Coward writes "Linux.conf.au 2005 registrations opened recently and they are offering substantial discounts to people who register before 1st of February 2005. Linux.conf.au is Australia's national Linux conference. LCA 2005 will be held at the Australian National University from Monday April 18 to Saturday April 23, 2005. Everyone should come along, the conference is insanely cheap and a load of fun. I had so much fun at Linux.conf.au 2004 that I'm giving a talk this year!"

  • Linus Torvalds has even turned up a couple of times. You never know what he's going to be dressed in; one year it was a penguin suit, another year speedos.
    Is this true? If so, does anyone have a link to the penguin suit pictures? You can keep the speedo link to yourself, thank you very much...

      Suit stitched by my wife, her sister and a Chilean friend named Cecilia. Suit was balanced and padded to make the posture and waddle work right. Big sell job to get Linus into the suit by Tony Breeds-Taurima, LA Committee candidate and LCA2005 organiser (as well as LCA2003 organiser, PLUG [linux.org.au]
  • If you have any additions, please R)eply with them now!
    • It's Australia, it has to be beaut!
    • Excellent weather, even in Canberra (-;
    • The only Linux conference with balls (big ones, too, you'll see what I mean when you get there);
    • Excellent people. Beyond excellent! Read the roster [linux.conf.au] and consider that this place houses OzLabs [ozlabs.org] too;
    • Excellent subject matter, re-read the roster.
    • Excellent venue. Nice flat spread-out campus, plenty of places to walk or just veg out within cooee;
    • Cafe strip more or less adjacent;
